The Basics

A cave tour takes visitors on a tram ride underground to explore the cavern’s pools and waterfalls, with a tour guide providing geological insights. The tram tour allows travelers to easily explore the massive underground cave, winding past clear streams and breathtaking cave formations for a closer look at the stalactites, stalagmites, and the 49-foot (15-meter) Great Hall.

Aside from the basic cave tram tour, eco-adventure tours and walk-in cave tours take adventurous travelers deeper into the cave—sometimes on hands and knees!—to explore further. Harrison’s Cave tours typically depart from nearby Bridgetown, and frequently combine a stop there with other nearby attractions such as Bathsheba, Hunte’s Gardens, or Welchman Hall.

Harrison's Cave Tour in Barbados
The driver Charles, who took us from our vllla was the highlight of the trip. As far as the actual Caves, it was nice. The guide was a bit corny but tried his best.

Island Adventure Harrison's Cave & Monkey Feeding group tour or private tour
It was awesome to see a natural wonder. My husband favorite number is eight so it was exciting to visit the 8th natural wonder. We also enjoyed seeing the monkeys and so many turtles. Our tour guide was exceptional and entertaining. He made the tour great!

Day Tour Including Harrison's Cave St. Nicholas Lunch and Monkeys
Fabulous day with the lovely Steven as a tour guide. He was brilliant, very knowledgeable, helpful and knew exactly how much to speak (a key skill some tour guides miss!) Would recommend this to anyone looking to see the main attractions in Barbados. We were ahead of the crowds at all stops and squeezed a lot into a short space of time.

Harrison's Cave Tour in Barbados
Viator used Glory Tours to get me there and back. The driver was very knowledgeable and informative. The caves themselves were very impressive. Again, the tour guide was very informative. The site was very well maintained and has more to offer than just the caves. Would recommend without hesitation

Harrison's Cave & Mount Gay Rum Signature Tour Group or Private Option
I was surprised that the cave was so humid. Makes sense after an explanation, tho. Tanisha and Carl were great guides explaining and helping the tour understand the cave.

Harrison's Cave & Mount Gay Rum Signature Tour Group or Private Option
We loved the atmosphere in the caves. Really scenic. We'd been to the Caves of Drach in Majorca and didn't think these would live up to our expectations but they did. Good information given by the tour guide.

Half-Day Barbados Tour Harrisons Cave Hunte's Garden and Bathsheba
Sunshine, our guide, could not have done more to give us a great day out. She talked us through all the landmarks, and added lots of detail that was interesting and entertaining. She set us up for the cave tour and the garden tour so all we had to do was to relax and enjoy. Thoroughly recommended for anyone wanting to see more than just the inside of their resort.

Harrison's Cave Tram Tour and Boat Cruise Snorkel Adventure
Harrison's Cave was fascinating. Much better experience in the tram, then trying to maneuver through on foot. Snorkeling with the turtles was fun, and they're many shipwrecks to explore

History of Harrison’s Cave

Thomas Harrison owned the land where the cave resides in the early 1700s, but it is unclear whether he ever entered the cave that bears his name. Early explorers had a tough time finding a breach in the well-hidden entrances, and it wasn’t until the 1970s that the cave was excavated and opened as a tourist attraction. Considered an “active” cave, the stalactites and stalagmites are still growing every year.
