When your cruise ship docks at Bridgetown's port, make your way to the port gates and meet your guide at 9:35am. Climb into a comfortable tour vehicle and set out for a 4-hour tour of the island.

Head to Cherry Tree Hill, where you can take in view of the East Coast and snap some photos before continuing over to Morgan Lewis Windmill. Travel down to the coastline and journey through Cattlewash, making a stop in Bathsheba.

Learn about the history of one of the island's oldest places of worship, St. Jon's Church, set on a cliff with ocean views. Continue through St. George, past the Gun Hill signal station and on past the great white lion.

In the Garrison Historic area, learn about the British occupation in the West Indies and the formation of Barbados as an independent nation in 1966.

At the conclusion of your tour, choose to return directly to the cruise port or be dropped off at Copacabana Beach or the Bridgetown shopping district.

Broad Street
Bridgetown. On the 5th of July 1628 that 64 settlers headed by Charles Wolverstone arrived. The location of Bridgetown was the most suitable place for a port. Its swampy lands however made it bad for the settlers’ health. The settlers named the town after a bridge that had been constructed by the early inhabitants of the island, the Amerindians. The Bridge of itself was called the Indian Bridge The principle streets in Bridgetown were laid out by John Swan and in keeping with tradition Swan street was named after him. The main street Broad Street was named Broad Street as it is the broadest street in the town. In the early years the streets in town were ill kept and in 1656 legislature passed and act where persons not keeping the space in front of their property clean could be fined 100 pounds of sugar for each day of noncompliance. Bridgetown's Swamp was filled in and replaced with a canal. The lower part of the Constitution is called the Careenage. It was named the Careenage because it ships were careened on to a side to be repaired
Stop At:
Morgan Lewis Sugar Mill
Morgan Lewis Windmill is located in the scenic hills of St. Andrew in Barbados and commands a most commanding view of the phenomenal east coast. Built in 1727, this typical wind-driven mill once crushed sugarcane to produce juice during the 18th and 19th centuries. Morgan Lewis Windmill stopped its operation in 1947 and was subsequently handed over to the Barbados National Trust for preservation as a museum. Morgan Lewis Windmill is among the World Monuments Fund list of 100 Most Endangered Sites in the World.

Cherry Tree Hill Reserve
Approximately 850 feet above sea-level, this spot offers an excellent view of the "Scotland District" which covers the parish of St.Andrew and is named after the Patron Saint of Scotland. It is believed that the name "Cherry Tree Hill" originated from the large number of cherry trees which once existed at this location. Today the road is lined with mahogany trees, which were introduced into Barbados after the Treaty of Paris in 1763. As you descend the hill the mahogany trees give way to swaying sugar cane.

Bathsheba Beach
Legend has it that Bathsheba, wife of King David, bathed in milk to keep her skin beautiful and soft. Legend also says that the surf covered white waters of Bathsheba, Barbados rich in minerals and life is said to resemble Bathsheba's bath in both appearance health giving value.

Stop At:
St. John's Parish Church
Built in 1846 to replace the church that was destroyed by the Great Hurricane of 1831, this classic Gothic church is solid and soaring. The church grounds are serene and the cliff-edge site commands a sweeping view of the picturesque east coast. A noteworthy statue and funerary plaques add to the interest, and a small guidebook gives you details. In the churchyard rests Ferdinando Paleologus, a descendant of Emperor Constantine the Great, whose family was driven from the throne in Constantinople by the Turks. Ferdinando died here in 1678, after being a resident for over 20 years. Though always English, Barbados has attracted multinationals for quite some time.

Gun Hill Signal Station
Gun Hill is the finest of a series of signal stations built in 1818. These stations sighted ships approaching Barbados and signaled to each other, advising of the type of vessel and whether if was a friend or foe! In case of attack, the forts and soldiers could be quickly readied to defend the island. In the signal tower a chart shows just what detailed information could be relayed with the use of a few flags. The signal stations were also used to warn of slave rebellions on the island.
Stop At:
Barbados Garrison
The location is the Historic Garrison Savannah, close to the capital, Bridgetown. The Garrison Savannah has been the home of horse racing in Barbados since 1845. The officers of the British Regiment, who were stationed in Barbados, used what was then the parade ground to match their horses in races and the wealthy merchants and planters later joined them.

Good trip, great guide
Neal_C
, Mar 2020
Our guide Charles was excellent. Very informative and had a good sense of humour. Saying that, there was not an awful lot to see around the island but it was good to get a feel for the place. We cancelled the beach part of the trip due to sea lice and jellyfish in the sea, which Glory Tours very kindly advised us of.

Typical Island Tour

We had 3 Caribbean islands in a row on a 3 week cruise to the Amazon & decided to take “tour the island” tours in each. Barbados was the 3rd so my feelings may be swayed by that fact. Guide was fine & we saw some lovely views but there was nothing special about the tour that made me glad we did it. Out of the 3, only the tour to St. Lucia with Get Your Guide stands out as really being enjoyable. I think it’s best to research the offerings of an island & find something of interest to do. We just didn’t want to go to the beach for the day but that may have been a better option.

Unfortunately, it was a Sunday so some points of interest were closed. The guide did not substitue with something else. We just went to the closed venue. The van was good. The driver was informative and lively. The trip was shared with another couple.

the guide was average. Not much information and short answers to questions. Dwayne was nice enough, but we have had outstanding guides on our tours of other islands.

We really enjoyed this tour with our tour guide Glyne. The directions about the meeting point provided by Glory Tours were perfect. The guide met us in the port on time. The vehicle was very comfortable. Glyne shared a lot of information about his beautiful island. All stops were great and were as mentioned in the itinerary. We were not rushed at any place. We liked the stops at Bathsheba Beach, St. John's Parish Church and Barbados Garrison. I will recommend this tour.

We enjoyed the tour very much. The guide met us in the port on time. The vehicle turned out to be very comfortable and spacious. The commentary was insightful and great. All stops were picturesque - we had just enough time to visit them. But had impressed us the most was the beach. We very provided by beach chairs, an umbrella and vouchers for free rum punch drink. The sea was very calm and clear - we enjoyed the tour very much.

We use this tour through viator on a port day during our cruise. The drive/guide was very courtesy and professional. He was also very knowledgeable about all the sites. The vehicle was very clean and maintained to the highest standard for cleanliness. I would highly recommend it to friends and family members.

Tour moved too quickly
Lawnie_G
, Jul 2019
Our tour guide, though quite pleasant personally, did not take the time to point out or give us the opportunity to take in the interesting spots in Barbados on this tour. The scenery itself was interesting but she often pointed out sights after we had passed them and did not give us a chance to take in the local landmarks and buildings as we passed them since she seemed to be moving quite fast. Not sure if it was because of the flow of traffic or because she simply was on a time crunch to complete her route. Nonetheless the few places we stopped at to look out and take pictures were interesting even if the weather was iffy that day. Our final stop at Carlisle Bay at the Copacabana Beach turned out to be the highlight of the trip especially for the water sports and Jet Skis available there. I will say that when we wanted to stay a little past the agreed upon departure time she did arrange for us to get a ride back to the ship with another driver.

Dear Grantla Thank you for your review. I am sorry that you were disappointed that you did not get to stop everywhere you would have liked to. Unfortunately we can not stop everywhere but we do make all the stops we promise in our tour description. If we did stop at all the beautiful and historic sights in Barbados we could not get through the tour in a day as Barbados has so many of them. I am happy you enjoyed your time at the beach and I am sure you appreciate that if we had stopped at all the places you passed by you would not have had the time to enjoy at the beach. Happy Travels to you :)

Had an excellent guide, Kelvin

We had the Half Day tour plus Beach break. Copacabana Beach is beautiful. You got a welcome drink, lounge chair with umbrella. They have showers & changing rooms. I really enjoyed the beach there. Our guide, Kelvin, was courteous, knowledgeable, and exceptional. I liked the Bathseba Beach and church stop. There didn't seem to be much there at Cherry Tree, although the windmill was excellent. Perhaps there is something else they can substitute for Cherry Tree. Otherwise, an excellent tour. Tour guide was on time to get us back to ship and on time to get our tour started. I would recommend.

We were met by Johno who was to be our guide and driver. There were only three of us on the tour and the vehicle was clean and comfortable. Johno was extremely knowledgeable and helpful, explaining the history of the island as well as sharing the local culture and traditions with us throughout. He stopped at our designated highlight places for the tour and also to allow us to take photos of other interesting views. Always at the best vantage points! He explained areas where we needed to be careful such as on the rocky outcrops on the coast as there was a heavy sea with large waves. In all an excellent tour made more personal by Johno.

This tour took us to the east coast which gave us different views of the island. It was well organised and as advertised, a small group of 6 people. Kelvin our driver was punctual, polite and very informative. We took the beach option and he took us in, explained where everything was and set us up with sunbeds and a drink each. The day was supposed to end at 3pm but Kelvin kindly waited till 4 for us so we could enjoy an extra hour on the beach, then took us back to the ship. All together a great experience, couldn't fault it at all.

The tour was good and took us quite a lot of places along some narrow roads through villages. It didn't start off well as some passengers from a ship were late and then we had to be taken on one minibus out of the terminal to another minibus so we were 30mins late starting out, Corey our driver was very interesting to listen to, entertaining and very knowledgeable. A really nice person. It was a good way to learn about Barbados and see the countryside.
