Absolutely Amazing

My 14 yr old grandson and I had an amazing 4 hour ride that included a nice lunch. Our guide Morgan was really fun to ride with. We went thru the rivers, we rode up a very high mountain where we broke for lunch with amazing views. We saw grizzly bears, elk, and deer. My grandson and I both loved it so much we went back the next day for a 2 hr ride which was also awesome.

Very skittish and undisciplined horses. Not for beginners at all. Horses required high levels of control and would jump, canter, and run up and down hillsides. One woman in our riding group was thrown. The guides had no clear procedure for handling an injured woman or how to handle the rest of the horses who started to get agitated. Lots of biting and kicking horses. I’ve been on about 5 Trail rides and this was a scary one. I regret putting myself and family in danger.

Beautiful Scenery!

I want to point out what I found were the positives and ideas to improve. First, we had what I considered the perfect size, 6 riders, plus our guide Deshaun. Riders’ level of experience was never having been on a horse to an accomplished rider. I would recommend a little more ring time before departing. Deshaun answered all of my questions, yet the riders in the rear couldn’t hear him. I would recommend stopping for just a couple of minutes in a few intervals to check on riders and give instruction on how to handle the horse. We had a beautiful ride, we made it to the top of a gravel road and Deshaun took photos of each couple with the mountain range as our backdrop. These horses do not gallop, it’s more of a slight trot but my horse was very well mannered. Overall it was enjoyable, but I would not want to be with a large group.

Colby was a fun and phenomenal guide. He was very knowledgeable and my wife and I had a tremendous time on our 2 hour ride. We would definitely return and ask for Colby.

A LOT to be desired.

I have been a licensed riding instructor and trainer for 40 years. I also spent 10 years taking high profile clients on supervised rides cross country, so am more than qualified to address this issue. There were SO many things that were wrong and potentially dangerous in this ride. Taking a group of 18 people, at least 16 of whom were rank beginners, two of whom were small children, and one of those scared to pieces, was crazy. There was a lead rider and a wrangler. That was not enough to care for 18 riders. The horse the child was on decided to head for home an hour into the ride. The potential for critical injury was huge. The second guide had to leave the group to get the kid and one parent back to the ranch safely. Another rider started having trouble w a horse kicking at it's belly repeatedly, an hour and a half out, on a tar road, going downhill. He rightly expressed concern and was told he could get off and walk. Another rider, the only other with some experience, offered and did switch horses. Had I EVER been advised as to the possible size of the group, I would never have gone. I basically spent the 2 hours watching out for my family and the riders immediately near me. And it cost me money to do so. Really disappointed. And, I doubt this will be posted for review of potential clients.

Colby was our tour guide and he was great/talkative with us! Definitely will be doing a longer tour next time we find ourselves in Jackson Hole! Tips: warm socks and warm gloves if riding in the fall/winter.

I really enjoyed our guide and the people on the ride. It was very apparent that the owner doesn't treat the staff the greatest, that would be my only hesitation with recommending this place to others. Otherwise the guide was great, and the horseback ride was well worth the money.

What a wonderful place and group of people running the ranch and horses. It was the highlight of my trip let alone year. Kevin was a wonderful guide and the horses are SO impressively well behaved. I didn’t mention to them my first time on a horse I was bucked off in Missouri. This was nothing like that and I can’t wait to ride here again. The scenery/landscape while riding was worth every penny. I enjoyed the 2 hour ride and loved my horse Taffy. They know what they are doing at heart 6 ranch! Thank you guys!

Disappointed

Enjoyed riding on the single track. However, the horses were dirty and did not appear well cared for. Also, the conditions of the stable and grounds were littered with garbage and junk. We were not impressed. Our guide however was pleasant and supportive throughout our ride.

I would not recommend this company especially for first time riders. We had a large group (about 15 riders) & the horse handlers were not welcoming or patient at all. They gave brief (5 minutes) riding instructions and then you were on your own. I was also expecting to ride through trails & see the Grand Tetons. We did go on a pretty trail near a river and then up a gravel road but turned around, not even seeing the Tetons. Would definitely do more research and book with another company.

Staff at the ranch need a lesson in customer service. They made us feel like we were inconveniencing them by being there!

Everyone, both horses and humans, seemed cranky
Suzanne_R

I was very excited for this experience. I love horses and have had the opportunity to ride in the past, so I was really looking forward to this. However, the staff seemed quickly frustrated with both the horses and humans during the entire experience. I’m concerned about everyone involved. I’m concerned the staff may not be either getting the resources they need to lessen frustration, or if they need a shift in expectations. I’m concerned for the horses too. I’m not going to claim I’m some horse expert. However, one horse actually fell to its knees during the ride! Another horse almost reared up on the rider three times— once when guided to face the mountains, twice when the rider tried to keep him from eating during the ride (as instructed). If that’s normal, or even just normal for that particular horse, I feel like the staff probably should have either said so or taught us what to do. We were* told to not let them eat and if they tried to to firmly lift up on the reigns and give the horse a firm kick, or that the horses would be “brats”. Also, what kind of person who loves horses names one horse Troll because they think he’s ugly? Not unethical of course, but kind of sad..

It was hunting season so we didn't go very far and spent a good chunk of the time taking pics. It was a large group, so if your group is smaller it shouldn't be too bad. It was nice they took the pic. I would have preferred to go on more of a trail, but understand why we didn't. Overall we had a good time and would recommend doing it.
